Avye Couloute

Avye Couloute is the 18-year-old Founder of Girls Into Coding, a UK organisation she started at age 10 after noticing that most of the young people at the tech workshops she was running were boys.

Eight years on, Girls Into Coding has reached 20,000+ girls across the UK through free hands-on workshops in coding, robotics, engineering, AI, and 3D printing. 90% of participants report increased interest in STEM subjects. 78% feel more confident in their technical abilities.

Avye’s work sits at the intersection of technology, engineering, and social change. She believes the most important question in AI is not what the technology can do, but who gets to shape it. Right now, too many young people, and especially girls, are growing up believing that AI and engineering are not for them. Through Girls Into Coding, she is working to change that.

She designs and makes robotic kits used at GIC events, speaks at international conferences, and through her workshops helps girls understand how technology can address real-world challenges including sustainability, climate change, and renewable energy.

A Forbes 30 Under 30 honouree, UK Young Engineer of the Year, and Highly Commended at the Royal Academy of Engineering Rooke Award, Avye brings a rare combination of lived experience, technical knowledge, and youth perspective to conversations about AI’s future.

She believes you are never too young for your ideas to have value, and that the next generation of AI builders, policymakers, and innovators is already here.
