Our team “AI Pioneers” strive for excellence in robotics and innovation. This challenge is a wonderful opportunity to integrate robotics and AI into developing sustainable societies with adequate research and rescue facilities for the people.

We developed two robots: one for handling green blocks, representing rescue items, and another for red blocks, symbolizing injured people. Each robot follows a distinct trajectory, with movements controlled by algorithms executed in sequence. Initially, we planned to add a camera, Raspberry Pi, and a gripper controlled by servos to pick up and place blocks. However, this approach proved inefficient, so we opted for a purely algorithm-driven strategy without sensors. We are planning to add a camera and Raspberry Pi to integrate AI into one of our robots, which is assigned to handle green blocks.

The robots were designed using 3D printing to ensure they were lightweight yet durable. For control, we used Arduino UNO micro-controllers, L298N motor drivers, and N20 motors for efficient movement. A key challenge we faced was managing inconsistent timing delays between commands, which affected how far the robots traveled or turned, depending on surface conditions. This variability often impacted the accuracy of their placement, crucial for the success of the algorithms.

Despite these difficulties, our game strategy was effective. The green robot, tasked with gathering green blocks, followed a black line where most blocks were located, successfully collecting 4 to 5 in the designated rescue area. The red robot targeted high-value red blocks representing trapped people, earning maximum points. The algorithms enabled dynamic targeting and retrieval, adding an element of intelligence.

Our robots consistently scored around 52 points, with our highest score reaching 96. We will strive to upgrade our robots’ performances in the grand finale, scoring maximum possible score.
