Ahmed Biyabani

Dr. Ahmed Biyabani is an associate teaching professor at Carnegie Mellon University Africa where he teaches courses in AI and digital transformation. His current research interests include AI in healthcare, and telemedicine. He has previously worked with a startup that uses v2v communications for traffic safety and optimization and initiated the collaborative Smart Mobility Lab in Kigali. He has helped develop the IEEE 1923.1 standard for energy efficient 5G wireless transmission and 1924.1 for low power digital architectures and is presently working on energy efficient ML hardware.  His career spans three decades across the semiconductor industry, teaching, project management and consulting. He holds a SB in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and MS and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
