Abigail Sellen

Abigail Sellen is Vice President at Microsoft Research Cambridge in the UK. At Microsoft she takes an interdisciplinary approach to designing and developing new AI-infused technologies. A particular focus is taking a human-centric approach to providing everyday users with the tools to interrogate the origin and history of digital content. Her team uses design-led research to study how provenance information can be made more accessible, meaningful, and actionable in real-world settings in order to combat the increasing challenge we all have trying to discern where content comes from, what has happened to it, and whether we can trust it. More broadly, Abigail has a background in Cognitive Science and Human Factors Engineering, publishing widely. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Society for the Arts, and the ACM.  She is also an International Member of the US National Academy of Engineering and the ACM SigCHI Academy. She holds honorary professorships in Computer Science at Lancaster University and UCLIC, University College London. Currently she chairs the UX Task Force in C2PA.
