Trust is in everything we do: the review we read before we buy, the credential we check before we hire, the voice on the phone we assume is real. We rely on evidence to verify what is trustworthy. Today, that evidence can be distorted, manipulated, and manufactured at scale. But the problem goes deeper: the AI systems we build to solve this are themselves not fully trustworthy. Their data can be biased. Their outputs can be wrong. Their vendors cannot guarantee correctness. So how do we build systems worthy of trust from components we cannot fully trust? Werner Vogels has spent thirty years building systems that work not because every part is perfect, but because the architecture tolerates failure. This talk is about what comes next.
