At last year’s AI for Good Global Summit, Amazon CTO Werner Vogels delivered a powerful message: no data, no AI, no real impact. Communities that need AI the most are often the least represented in the data that powers it and lack the resources and access to the technology.  Closing that divide does not only require better tools, but a new paradigm of tech leadership, local ownership, and cross-sector collaboration. Werner’s launch of the Now Go Build CTO Fellowship does exactly that – it brings together technology leaders from nonprofits on the front lines of climate resilience, disaster management, and humanitarian response, and pairs them with experts across Amazon and AWS as well as external partners. This panel brings together Fellows from the inaugural Disaster Management & Climate Resilience cohort —from Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR), 412 Food Rescue, Theanna, and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team — alongside a representative from AWS, to explore what this new paradigm looks like in practice: how nonprofit tech leaders are rethinking data, AI, and operations in resource-constrained environments; how peer engagement and cross-sector collaboration unlock impact that neither side could achieve alone; and what it takes to develop a generation of leaders prepared to harness AI truly for good.
