  • Navigate the complex world of AI law and position your startup for success. This session equips founders and key team members with the knowledge to understand global AI regulations, mitigate risks across their value chain, and enhance their attractiveness to become “exit-ready” through proactive legal compliance.

    Learning Objectives

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

    • List the major global AI regulations (e.g., EU AI Act, US regulations) and summarize their key provisions.
    • Compare and contrast the approaches to AI regulation taken by different jurisdictions (e.g., EU, US, China) and analyze their potential impact on AI startups operating internationally.
    • Categorize potential legal and ethical risks associated with AI across different stages of the value chain (data acquisition, model development, deployment) and explain the implications of each.
    • Assess the effectiveness of various risk mitigation strategies (e.g., algorithmic auditing, data anonymization, explainable AI) in addressing specific AI-related risks.
    • Demonstrate how to conduct due diligence on AI systems to identify potential legal and regulatory red flags that could impact an investment or acquisition.

Intellectual Property (IP) is more than legal protection—it’s a critical business enabler. This session introduces the fundamentals of IP as a strategic asset, explores its role in the fast-evolving world of artificial intelligence (AI), and highlights practical tools from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to empower businesses. Attendees will leave with actionable insights and strategies to make IP work for their business in a tech-driven landscape.

    Learning Objectives

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

    ● Identify key forms of intellectual property (IP) and their relevance to businesses.

    ● List the implications of AI-driven innovation on IP management and strategy.

    ● Use WIPO’s tools and services for streamlining IP processes.
