As AI reshapes the foundations of our digital world, trust has become its most valuable – and fragile – currency. This session makes a clear and urgent case: trusted AI must be open by design and secure by default. Performance alone is no longer enough; trust must be built through transparency, strong cybersecurity, respect for human rights, and shared responsibility.

Across regions, governments and international organizations are embracing open-source AI not just as a technical choice, but as a strategic imperative tied to digital sovereignty. Yet openness without security risks becoming a liability. This session emphasizes that cybersecurity must be embedded across the entire AI value chain – from data and model development to deployment and monitoring – to ensure resilience and reliability.

The session highlights how open and secure digital ecosystems can drive innovation while strengthening collective defense. It will explore three core questions: how public institutions are transitioning to open-source AI, how cybersecurity can enable rather than constrain openness, and how fragmented efforts can evolve into coordinated global action. Ultimately, the session aims to move beyond discussion and catalyze a shared agenda to advance open, secure, and trustworthy AI worldwide.
