The Megacity Think Tank Alliance (MeTTA) is a global network of research institutions dedicated to addressing the complex challenges of megacities through knowledge exchange and collaborative research. This session, co-organized by MeTTA, highlights practical applications of AI in megacity planning, featuring case studies from leading metropolitan regions.

The presentations will explore an AI-supported system for Daily Life Zone Planning, which delineates everyday living zones and allocates public service facilities based on residents’ behavioral patterns; an AI-powered model for optimizing public bus operations to enhance service efficiency and accessibility; and the use of Generative AI as an exploratory method for metropolitan analysis, focusing on how emerging technologies can provide new approaches to understanding complex urban systems.

The session will conclude with a discussion exploring directions for collaborative research and knowledge-sharing among MeTTA member institutions toward a sustainable future for megacities.
