AI for Good Sandbox – UAE kick-off workshop

This workshop is being organized to as part of the collaboration between ITU and TDRA to set up the AI for Good Sandbox in UAE. It aims to highlight opportunities for researchers in UAE to experiment with, design and deploy AI models, and to develop end-to-end AI-enabled innovations using the ITU AI for Good sandbox which is one of the pillars of the AI for Good Lab.

The main objectives of the workshop are to

    • Kickoff the activities to start the implementation of the ITU AI for Good Sandbox for UAE.
    • Explain opportunities in the Sandbox and onboard interested partners.
    • Showcase international efforts on local LLMs, agentic solutions, and open knowledge bases using the Sandbox environment.
    • Convene experts from around the world to share best practices and lessons learnt.
    • Identify policies and strategies that complement and enable the technical solutions developed in the Sandbox.
    • Discuss the intersection of AI strategies, solutions, standards, and skill set requirements.

The workshop is organized around two main thematic tracks: a Technical track and a Policy track. The technical track will showcase international initiatives and good practices relating to local large language models, agentic AI solutions, open knowledge bases and global hackathons, drawing on lessons learned from around the world. A complementary policy track will explore the policies and strategies needed to enable and support these technical solutions. The workshop will conclude with announcements of specific collaborative initiatives to be developed as part of the collaboration.
