Closing the global AI access gap requires focusing not only on who gets access, how fast, and at what scale, but also on whether people and institutions trust the technology enough to use it.  With AI adoption currently uneven—tracking at roughly twice the rate in the Global North compared to the Global South—equitable diffusion depends on moving from connectivity to full capability: reliable energy, affordable devices, resilient infrastructure and compute, digital skills, and locally relevant (including multilingual) technologies.  Trust is the enabling condition that determines whether adoption accelerates or stalls: AI delivers public value only when it is safe, secure, and governed in the public interest, with cybersecurity and digital resilience built in from the outset.  The session will also highlight how partnerships across governments, development banks, the private sector, and civil society can help build trusted AI ecosystems and scale solutions that already demonstrate real‑world impact.
