    In co-location with the 6th meeting of the Focus Group on for Autonomous and Assisted Driving (FG‑AI4AD), this AI for Good Webinar will focus upon recent policy announcements applicable to automated driving safety. The webinar will discuss a recent proposal from the European Commission to set up the first-ever legal framework on AI and possible impacts on the automotive sector, which plans to take advantage of AI systems. The event will be an occasion to also review the latest updates from various SDOs in relation to their activities to set up standards and metrics related to automated driving safety.

    Session 1 will focus on the new policy activities, in particular a review of the European Commission’s proposal for the first ever legal framework on AI, covering:

    • the definition of “high-risk” AI systems that pose significant risks to the health and safety or fundamental rights of persons;
    • the set of horizontal mandatory requirements for trustworthy AI and follow conformity assessment procedures before those systems can be placed on the Union market;
    • what these requirements mean for the regulation of AI use in autonomous and assisted driving.

    Session 2 will review the latest updates in standards and metrics related to automated driving safety, including updates on:

    • the SAE AVSC’s latest guidance on Metrics and Methods for Assessing Safety Performance of Automated Driving Systems (ADS);
    • V2X safety communications including ETSI’s Collective Perception Service and the Car 2 Car Communication Consortium’s latest study on object representation for accuracy and confidence as well as passive and active VRU awareness.
