This report aims to offer a voice to the array of perspectives on artificial intelligence (AI) in Canada today, capturing the excitement, concern, and expectations of over 5,500 people across the country. Our findings reveal the contrast in perspectives around AI: Canadians recognize the potential for AI to drive social impact and productivity, but are concerned about the consequences of AI left unchecked. We found that trust and human oversight appear to be the bridge between
AI’s promise and public acceptance: confidence in AI decision making nearly doubles when human supervision is present, especially in high stakes areas like healthcare.
