[Invitation only] Lessons and cooperation across AI policy initiatives

      Building on discussions held during the Global Dialogue on AI Governance, this invitation-only leaders’ roundtable will bring together representatives of major international, regional, national and multistakeholder AI policy initiatives. Participants will exchange practical experiences on implementing AI policy frameworks, translating principles into action, addressing capacity gaps, and fostering international cooperation. The discussion will explore lessons learned across different models, identify areas of complementarity and collaboration, and consider how existing initiatives can collectively contribute to a more coherent, inclusive and effective global AI policy ecosystem. The objective is to promote peer learning and practical cooperation among those leading AI efforts around the world.

      • – Welcome and opening remarks by the ITU Secretary-General (about 3 minutes)
      • – Brief reflections from H.E. Ms Egriselda López, Permanent Representative of El Salvador to the United Nations and Co-Chair of the Global Dialogue on AI Governance (about 3 minutes)
      • – Brief reflections from one of the Co-Chairs of the Independent International Scientific Panel on AI (about 3 minutes)
      • – Opening intervention by H.E. Mr Mark Schaan, Associate Deputy Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, providing direct support to the Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation (about 5 minutes)
      • – Opening intervention by H.E. Mr Mondli Gungubele, Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies of the Republic of South Africa: “From G20 Leadership to National Transformation: South Africa’s Approach to AI Strategy and Innovation” (about 5 minutes)
      • – Moderated roundtable discussion among leaders of AI policy initiatives and processes
