Michael Stepenson

Prof. Michael Stephenson has over 30 years of global experience in geoscience and palaeontology, including eight years as Executive Chief Scientist and Director of Science and Technology at the British Geological Survey. He is the Founding President of the Deep-time Digital Earth program and a distinguished geoscientist with the GeoGPT research group, advancing the use of AI in geoscience, particularly palaeontology. He has advised governments worldwide on energy, climate, and carbon storage, authored award-winning books, and today runs Stephenson Geoscience Consulting, focusing on the global role of geoscience in tackling geoscience challenges.
