He is particularly interested in artificial intelligence’s potential to revolutionize healthcare access in underserved communities a critical component of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) while advancing sustainable energy solutions (SDG 7) to power these innovations. He envisions AI-powered diagnostic tools, such as solar-driven mobile clinics, deployed in remote areas to enable early detection of diseases like malaria where energy infrastructure and medical specialists are scarce. With the integration of machine learning with renewable energy systems, he aims to ensure reliable, off-grid healthcare access.

Dr. Janet Brinz is a researcher and clinician operating at the vital intersection of clinical dentistry, AI innovation, and healthcare technology. Her mission is to translate medical expertise into technological innovation, driving the ethical and effective adoption of AI in healthcare systems globally.

Janet actively contributes to the development and implementation of AI in healthcare guidelines on a global scale. As the Secretary and member of the ITU-WHO Focus Group on AI for Health’s Topic Group-Oral Health, she has been instrumental in growing the group to over 100+ international members. Her organizational leadership has facilitated high-level symposia and discussions at institutions like MIT and the ITU Headquarters, promoting critical knowledge transfer between technical and non-technical stakeholders. In her local capacity in Munich, she is a member of the Young AI Leaders Hub, actively driving local initiatives and contributing to the responsible use of AI.

As a Dentist, Researcher, and Lecturer at LMU University Hospital in Munich, Janet is deeply involved in both clinical care and AI in healthcare research. She is a Principal Investigator for multiple interdisciplinary AI projects, setting up data sharing agreements with institutions worldwide to advance AI training. 

Jesús is a Civil Engineering student at UPAEP, whose academic and professional journey reflects a unique blend of dedication, passion, and excellence. Notably, he completed five semesters of the Aerospace Engineering program, which complements his technical background with an interdisciplinary and advanced understanding of engineering systems. Currently, he serves as a proprietary counselor on the University Council for the Civil Engineering academic program, a position that has allowed him to develop strategic and student representation skills.

His leadership and communication experience is extensive and enriching, shaped through his role as a group leader in international camps in Canada and England. These experiences have provided him with a global perspective and outstanding ability to work in multicultural teams, adapting to diverse environments and effectively managing projects.

Jesús possesses an insatiable curiosity for learning, not only within his field of study but also across various disciplines that broaden his understanding of the world. This mindset has led him to master two additional languages, opening doors to new opportunities and international challenges. His ability to tackle complex problems was demonstrated during the NASA Space Apps Challenge Oaxaca, where he led a team that developed an innovative machine learning algorithm to classify seismic activity on Mars and the Moon. This project not only improved prediction accuracy by 6% but also included the design of an interactive web interface that integrated NASA’s 3D models to visualize events and optimize data transmission between Earth and celestial bodies.

Joana Ramos, a 24-year-old with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, is currently working as an assistant engineer at an IT consultancy. With a strong analytical mindset shaped by her engineering background, Joana is passionate about exploring innovative solutions to address real-world challenges.

In her role within the AI for Good initiative, Joana aims to utilize her technical skills to support the mission of leveraging AI for the benefit of society. She believes strongly in the importance of creating accessible technology and fostering inclusivity in digital transformation.

My academic journey has equipped me with a robust foundation in computer networking, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure management, along with hands-on experience in securing digital networks and preventing cyber threats. Julia Messam is a third-year student pursuing a Double Master’s of Digital Entrepreneurship at the European New School of Digital Studies (ENS) at European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). Her professional background spans roles in the banking and legal sectors, with a strong focus on digital transformation. Notably, she worked as a paraprofessional assisting a law firm to modernize its processes and as a paralegal correcting and optimizing AI tools to digitize the Bank of New York Mellon’s contract repository.

She has served as a mentor to first-generation college students, offering guidance and support to help them navigate the complexities of higher education.
