How would you describe the scholar program in your own words?

A great opportunity to experience a professional, ethical, and technological environment all the while improving industry-leading innovation. Not only did I learn about aspects of AI I have never known of, but I also learned the types of questions and approaches one should have when analyzing the ethical intentions of data and AI. It was a once in a lifetime experience, to be sure.

What activities did you participate in during the scholar program?

During the use case report drafting, I was in constant communication with my assigned use case authors to accurately describe and visualize their use case in my assigned report items. During the AI For Good Summit, I had the privilege of talking about my assigned use cases during the “AI For Good Scholars” Showcase, as well as discussing and connecting with industry leaders at the stands around the venue. A few favorites include AI trained robots to create artwork and a neurology helmet for helping reproduce brain cells.

In what ways did you benefit from the scholar program?

I gained a stronger understanding on the foundations of AI model training, the importance of collecting and using data in an ethical manner, the ability to discuss and improve projects in a professional manner (regardless of experience level), and the ability to connect and network with industry leaders.
