Turyamureeba Amon

Turyamureeba Amon is a Ugandan social entrepreneur and co-founder of Hydroponic Farms Uganda, where he serves as the Head of Operations. His organization focuses on empowering urban communities, informal settlements, and refugees by promoting food security through sustainable farming innovations. By utilizing advanced methods such as hydroponics and IoT-enhanced agriculture, Amon enables food production in challenging environments. His work not only addresses hunger but also improves livelihoods for vulnerable populations, especially women and children.

In addition to his agricultural endeavors, Amon is a recognized mentor at the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and the Tony Elumelu Foundation, where he provides mentorship to emerging entrepreneurs across Africa. His guidance helps them scale their ventures and create lasting impacts within their communities.

Amon’s leadership in sustainable farming and digital innovation has earned him numerous accolades. He is a 2020 Savvy Fellow, a recipient of the Most Inspiring Digital Innovation Award  by Spindle (2020), and a Queen’s University Fellow (2020). Additionally, Amon won the IoT in Sustainable Farming Award in 2021, supported by the EU, and is a ShareYourself Grant winner (2021) for sustainable farming. His commitment to applying technology in agriculture continues to transform food systems in Uganda.
