Steve Suarez

Steve Suarez is the Founder and CEO of HorizonX, a strategy and innovation firm focused on transforming businesses and future-proofing operations by harnessing emerging technologies. A recognized leader in digital transformation and quantum strategy, Steve is a Board Director at Classiq (a global leader in quantum software) and a Senior Advisor on Emerging Technology to McKinsey & Company. His experience spans senior roles at Bain & Company, Mitsubishi Corporation, and QuSecure, and he previously served on the UK Board of QuEra Computing, a pioneer in neutral-atom quantum computing. He also co-founded The Quantum Index, a global benchmarking initiative that ranks enterprise quantum readiness across industries. Before founding HorizonX, Steve was Global Head of Innovation, Global Functions at HSBC, where he led enterprise-wide programs to accelerate digital transformation and embed innovation at scale. Over a 30-year career spanning consulting, telecommunications, and financial services, Steve has earned a global reputation for translating cutting-edge technology into practical business value and guiding leaders through periods of rapid change. At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT xPro), Steve is a guest lecturer in the Quantum Computing: Strategy and Impact program, where he equips executives with frameworks to achieve quantum readiness and capture first-mover advantage. A U.S. Army veteran, Steve holds an MBA and is an alumnus of both Harvard Business School and the MIT Sloan School of Management Executive Education.
