Sol Gretter

Sol Gretter is a high school mathematics teacher in Montevideo, Uruguay. In the classroom, she uses technology to open up new ways of approaching mathematics and to give her students room to experiment with it. Her approach reflects an interest in making mathematics a subject students can explore, question, and engage with through different perspectives.

Deeply connected to the social dimension of her work, she believes education is one of the most powerful tools for creating opportunities. She values the role teachers can play in helping students recognize their abilities, think for themselves, and make decisions about their own lives. For her, the value of education extends beyond the classroom, giving people knowledge and confidence they can draw on in their work, relationships, and participation in society.

She is currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, motivated by her interest in creating and building things, and by what artificial intelligence is making possible. Her experience using AI to create resources for her classes and support student learning has encouraged her to explore these possibilities further. She wants to take part in shaping this technology while it is still taking form, with a strong interest in making sure it is used in ways that genuinely benefit people.
