Silvia Grandi

Director in the Italian public administration, currently serving as Head of Office II – Coordination of Department Policies, Studies and Analysis, and International Relations at the Department for Digital Connectivity and New Technologies within the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy. In this capacity, she contributes to strategic initiatives in digital, AI and technological policy, with active engagement in key international fora such as the G7, G20, ITU, and various EU-level activities.

She works on the advancement of the interlinkages between AI and sustainability, among other, by supporting the AI HUB for Sustainable Development Initiatives, and promoting the development of standardisation in Quantum Technologies.

In addition to her institutional role, she serves as a professor of Sustainable Development, Geopolitics, and Economic Geography at several Italian universities. Her academic work complements her public service, bridging policy expertise and scholarly research on the global challenges and opportunities posed by sustainable development and technological transformation. She received her Master’s degree in Engineering cum laude from the University of Bologna (Italy), a Postgraduate Master’s in Management from the Solvay School of Management at Vrije Universiteit Brussels (Belgium), and a PhD from the Department of Economics at the University of Bologna. She specialised at the Science Policy Research Unit of the University of Sussex (UK) and at the University of Cambridge (UK).
