Shirin Anlen

Shirin Anlen is an AI research, impact, and strategy lead working at the intersection of AI systems, information quality, and real-world risk. An award-winning creative technologist and expert on generative AI and deepfakes, she focuses on how these systems behave in high-stakes environments, and how those dynamics should shape their evaluation, deployment, and Policy. She currently serves as AI Research Technologist and Impact Manager at WITNESS, a global human rights organization working to defend reality in the age of AI and contested truth. There, she leads the design of evaluation systems and strategies addressing AI detection, synthetic media, and the broader implications of audiovisual AI in contexts such as elections, conflict, and human rights abuses, while also driving forward-looking research and strategy on emerging AI capabilities and risks.
