Shahnawaz Ahmed

PhD Shahnawaz Ahmed, Deep Learning Researcher. He received his PhD in Applied Quantum Physics from Chalmers University in 2023 at the Wallenberg Center for Quantum Technologies. His PhD focused on the intersection of quantum information, computing, and machine learning. He developed neural networks and manifold optimization techniques for learning in quantum systems and received a MITACS fellowship from Canada during his PhD. Shahnawaz contributes to open-source software, has mentored students, and has participated in Google Summer of Code projects in the past. His research works are published in journals such as Nature Communications, Physical Review Letters, Quantum, npj Quantum, and PRX Quantum, and he has been a reviewer for articles in many journals, including Nature Machine Intelligence. At Chalmers, he was a teaching assistant in several machine learning courses. At Embedl since 2023, Shahnawaz specializes in developing algorithms for optimization of deep learning models and inference on embedded hardware.
