Paula Palade

Dr Paula Palade is an internationally recognised expert in AI ethics, advancing security and ethical standards for connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) at Jaguar Land Rover and across European and global ecosystems. With over a decade of experience spanning automotive engineering, AI ethics, and standardisation, she has made significant contributions to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the European Commission.

Her mission is to ensure that AI is deployed in ways that are ethical, sustainable, and beneficial to society.

As AI Ethics & Safety Technical Specialist at Jaguar Land Rover, Dr Palade leads the development and implementation of ethical principles and best practices for CAVs, helping to shape responsible innovation at scale. She holds a PhD in electrical engineering and has authored multiple patents and publications in leading journals, reflecting a strong foundation in both research and applied engineering.

Dr Palade’s work has earned her numerous accolades, including Automotive Rising Star of the Year 2024 (Detroit AutoTech), Top 50 Women in Engineering UK 2024, and recognition in both the UK TechWomen100 and Autocar Top 100 Women in Automotive.
A committed advocate for diversity and inclusion in engineering, she serves as a STEM Ambassador, Women in Engineering mentor, and Chartered Engineer mentor with the IET.

She contributed to the European Commission’s report on the Ethics of CAVs, delivering 20 key recommendations that are helping to shape policy and emerging legislation. In addition to her technical leadership, she is a frequent speaker at international events, delivers webinars on CAV security, and supports strategic initiatives for INCOSE and the IET.
