Pablo Salazar Canelos

Pablo Salazar Canelos is the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Costa Rica. An Ecuadorian national, he has more than 20 years of experience in international development, population and development, statistics, public policy and demographic analysis.

Within the United Nations system he has served as UNFPA Representative in Bolivia and in Guatemala, as Regional Advisor on Population and Development for UNFPA’s Latin America and the Caribbean regional office, and as a UNDP international expert in Honduras. Earlier he held management positions in several ministries of the Government of Ecuador. He brings deep expertise in using population data to advance the Sustainable Development Goals and ensure that no one is left behind.
