Nikolay Kolachevsky

Academician and Director of the Lebedev Physical Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences

Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Lebedev Institute. Nikolai Kolachevsky was born in 1972, graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) in 1994.
His research interests include precision frequency measurements, high-resolution spectroscopy, optical clocks, fundamental constants, antihydrogen, laser cooling, ultracold collisions, rare earth atoms, methods and systems for quantum information technology (quantum computers and quantum cryptography, quantum computing ).
In 2011, he was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2025, he was elected an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2014, he was appointed Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the FIAN, and in 2015 he was elected director of the FIAN. Editor-in-chief of the journal “Bulletin of the Lebedev Physical Institute”, the journal “Quantum Electronics”.
