MIRA Robot

MIRA Robot

This robot, using one arm and a radiation protection sensor, is permanently installed in the SPS accelerator ring at CERN, which is regularly used to perform scans of the area and do other inspection tasks or checks. The robot has been designed to fit through small passages (40 x 20cm) that are cut out in the doors in the SPS that normally are closed to delineate working areas. On display is a MIRA robot and a mock-up of the door it should cross. This robot is being used for manual teleoperation, as well as initial autonomous testing.
