Min Young

With a strong belief that human-centered digital technologies are a key resource for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Min Young joined the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in April 2024 as a member of the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB).
Before joining ITU, Min Young began her professional career as a lawyer in 2005, advocating for women’s and children’s rights. In 2007, she transitioned to public service, joining the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) in the Republic of Korea. There, she focused on improving the business environment for IT companies by reforming regulations and providing financial support, with a particular emphasis on radio standards and regulatory improvements in healthcare, transportation, and telecommunications.
Min Young holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Law from Korea University, Republic of Korea.
Her dedication and achievements earned her recognition as an outstanding public official in 2016, when she received the Presidential Award of Korea. In early 2024, she was further honored for her exceptional contributions to regulatory reform with the prestigious Order of Service Merit (Geunjeong Medal), one of the highest honors awarded to public officials in Korea.
She is honored and excited to join ITU in advancing the achievement of the UN SDGs, contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable digital future, and collaborating with outstanding team members to achieve these shared goals.
