MiLab Virtual Laboratory [Malawi pavilion]

MiLab Virtual Laboratory is an innovative educational technology platform that replicates real-life science laboratory experiments through immersive, interactive virtual simulations. Designed to enhance practical STEM education, MiLab enables students to safely conduct experiments in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology using computers and mobile devices, providing a realistic laboratory experience anytime and anywhere.

The platform was developed at Mzuzu University in close collaboration with the Directorate of Science and Technology under the Ministry of Education, Malawi, as a solution to the challenges of limited laboratory infrastructure, equipment shortages, and unequal access to practical science education.

MiLab’s curriculum-aligned simulations complement conventional laboratory instruction by allowing learners to perform experiments repeatedly, visualize scientific concepts, and develop practical skills in a safe, cost-effective environment. The platform also empowers educators with engaging digital teaching tools while expanding access to quality STEM education for schools, colleges, and universities.

By combining scientific accuracy with immersive technology, MiLab is helping shape the future of practical science education and supporting Malawi’s vision of leveraging digital innovation to develop the next generation of scientists, engineers, healthcare professionals, and innovators.
