Maria Stella Namyalo

Ms. Namyalo is a seasoned professional working in the Office of Science, Technology and Innovation at the African Union Development Agency AUDA-NEPAD. Her current role entails coordinating the African Union High-Level Panel on Emerging Technologies (APET), where she provides technical expertise to AU Member States and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) on harnessing emerging technologies for Africa’s transformative development.

Furthermore, Ms. Namyalo coordinates AUDA-NEPAD’s work on Innovative Financing for R&D and Africa’s scientific priority setting. As a member of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) task force at AUDA-NEPAD, she has provided and continues to provide technical expertise to Member States in the responsible adoption and ethical application of Al.

Ms. Namyalo also brings extensive experience from her experience at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), where she played a pivotal role in coordinating and strengthening refugee response frameworks. Her work contributed to aligning multi- stakeholder efforts, enhancing policy coherence, and supporting sustainable, inclusive solutions for vulnerable communities.

Maria is passionate about engaging women and youth in the sustainable development of Africa. Her advocacy for gender equality and youth empowerment reflects her commitment to fostering inclusive growth and creating opportunities for marginalised populations.
