Maria Eugenia Gay

She holds a Law degree from the University of Barcelona–CEU Abat Oliba and a Master’s in Mediation, with specialization in civil procedural law. Gay has built a solid legal career in civil law and has taught civil law and procedural law in various postgraduate programmes at the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB).

She has held prominent positions in the legal profession, including Dean of the Barcelona Bar Association (2017–2022), President of the Council of Catalan Lawyers (2020–2022), and Vice President of the General Council of Spanish Lawyers (2017–2022).

From 2021 to 2023, she served as the Spanish Government Delegate in Catalonia. She is also involved in several cultural and institutional bodies, including the CCCB and the Maritime Museum Consortium, and is Vice President of the Foundation for Democracy and Local Government.

Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to human rights, promoting a legal culture oriented toward the defence of fundamental rights, equality, and the protection of the most vulnerable, both within the legal profession and in public office
