LaVonne Roberts leads The Scott-Morgan Foundation’s development of universal communication platforms that break barriers for 500+ million people worldwide. She pioneers multi-agentic AI systems integrating voice synthesis, avatar generation, and personalized response engines while prioritizing individual dignity and democratizing assistive technology access.

As a technology leader and researcher, Roberts has been instrumental in fostering collaborations between technology companies and healthcare organizations to advance ethical AI development. Her current research explores the intersection of machine learning and assistive technology, focusing on creating trustworthy and sustainable AI solutions that can be deployed globally while maintaining individual agency and privacy.

Under Roberts’ leadership, her team is developing open standards and plug-and-play solutions designed to transform the assistive technology industry from fragmented, isolated tools into integrated ecosystems that work seamlessly together, creating a foundation for global scalability and user empowerment.

Roberts brings unique insights from her experience as an early internet pioneer, having co-founded XOOM, one of the first internet unicorns to successfully transition from online community startup to public company. Her subsequent work in technology investment and journalism has informed her approach to ethical AI development and implementation. AI subject matter expert for major media outlets , Roberts provides expert commentary for major media outlets and contributes to Forbes Under 30, identifying breakthrough AI innovators.

Her latest book, “Applied VR in Healthcare,” explores the convergence of virtual reality and artificial intelligence in medical applications. Roberts holds an MFA from The New School and has been recognized with numerous fellowships, including the MIT Tech Review, Lindau Nobel Laureate and the Heidelberg Laureate Forum.
