Kimberly Nelson

Kimberly Nelson joined True Elements in January 2022 as Chief Operating Officer.

Prior to True Elements, Ms. Nelson served as Senior Director Microsoft’s U.S. Public Sector’s State and Local Government Solutions business. During a 16-year career with Microsoft, she led teams of subject matter experts covering Justice and Public Safety, Health and Human Services and Critical Infrastructure. Her roles involved working in collaboration with Microsoft’s vast partner ecosystem to develop repeatable solutions that would ensure the predictable delivery of improved online services while helping to reduce the cost, risk and deployment time associated with sophisticated systems.

Ms. Nelson had a 22-year career in public service in management and executive roles in both state and federal government.

Her last government role was Assistant Administrator and Chief Information Officer, Office of Environmental Information, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where she was responsible for environmental information policy, collection, and dissemination. This was a Presidential Appointment confirmed by the U.S. Senate (PAS).

Prior to Ms. Nelson’s federal service, she served as Executive Deputy Secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection with responsibility for Policy, Communications and Operations. During here fourteen years in DEP she served in several staff and management roles before being appointed the first Chief Information Officer for the department.

Other roles in state government included serving as Executive Assistant to the Secretary of Aging and the Chairman of the PUC as well as legislative assistant to a state Senator.

Ms. Nelson has served on NGO boards, including NatureServe; Industry Boards, including ACT-IAC; and an alumni board and proxy board for a foreign owned company.

Ms. Nelson has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science (Shippensburg University) and a master’s degree in Public Administration (University of Pennsylvania).
