Kersten Jauer

As the Deputy Director of Strategic Planning in the Office of the UN Secretary-General, Kersten helps the leadership team identify priorities, design strategies and advance reforms. Connecting dots across the UN family, he is focused on data, digital and innovation initiatives that foster stronger insight, impact and integrity. Kersten is the project lead for the Secretary-General’s Data Strategy, the UN’s Complex Risk Analytics Fund, as well as UN 2.0 – the ‘Next-Generation UN’ change management agenda.

Before joining the Secretary-General’s Office, Kersten supported the leaders of UN humanitarian, development and peace operations – including for the UN’s global mission portfolio – in advancing evidence-based strategies and organizational change. Years of experience in the Central African Republic, Sudan, Timor-Leste and South Sudan shape Kersten’s work in UN headquarters today. Prior to the UN, he worked in banking and consulting.

Kersten studied International Relations (BSc) and Development Management (MSc) at the London School of Economics and Political Science, as well as business administration at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
