Kelsey Doerksen

Kelsey Doerksen is a postdoctoral researcher, holding a joint appointment at Arizona State University in the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence and leading the Agricultural Impacts research pillar at the University of Cape Town’s Climate Risk Lab. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Oxford where she completed her research on Applied Machine Learning Tools for Earth System’s Science, working with the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab, United Nations, and European Space Agency phi-lab. Kelsey’s research focuses on utilizing Earth Observation data with AI for climate, disaster preparedness, and humanitarian applications. She was formerly a satellite operator at Planet, where she operated the world’s largest EO constellation. Kelsey holds a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering, Space Systems Design from Carleton university.
