Kate Darling

Dr. Kate Darling is a Research Specialist at the MIT Media Lab and author of The New Breed: What Our History with Animals Reveals About Our Future with Robots. Dr. Darling’s award-winning research looks at the near-term effects of robotic technology, with a particular focus on legal, social, and ethical issues. She graduated from law school with honors, received a doctorate of science from ETH Zurich, an honorary doctorate of science from Middlebury College, a fellowship at Harvard, and was an affiliate at Yale. Today, she runs experiments, holds workshops, writes, and speaks about some of the more interesting developments in the world of human-robot interaction, and where we might find ourselves in the future.
