Kai Junge

Kai Junge is the CTO/Co-Founder of Embodied AI, developing robots that can be deployed in human spaces. He is a recent PhD graduate from the EPFL CREATE Lab where he performed research on the design and control of compliant anthropomorphic robotic hands.

Kai has been involved in robotics development from a young age through international robotic competitions such as RoboCup and WRO. He undertook his bachelor’s and master’s degree studying engineering at the University of Cambridge while leading a student robotics team.

In his PhD at EPFL, he worked on all aspects of robotic hands and manipulation: from mechanical design to integrating with cutting edge AI based controllers. With a specific focus on interactions, he studied the role of compliance in dexterous manipulation.

Following his PhD, he founded a startup alongside two colleagues from the same lab: Embodied AI. Here, he leads the technical team to develop soft robotic arms that are inherently safe to be deployed in human spaces.
