Junye Huang

Junye Huang is the Global Lead for Coding Challenges and EMEA Workforce & Education Advocate at IBM Quantum. As Global Lead for Coding Challenges, Junye drives strategic planning and execution of IBM Quantum’s flagship initiatives, including the IBM Quantum Challenge, Qiskit Global Summer School, and IBM Quantum Developer Conference challenges, engaging thousands of learners worldwide. 

 

In his role as an Education Advocate, he leads the development and execution of quantum education programs across the EMEA region, fostering the next generation of quantum scientists and developers. 

 

Previously, Junye managed the APAC Workforce and Education Team, overseeing initiatives across the region, including partnerships with the University of Tokyo (Japan) and Yonsei University (Korea) to advance quantum education. He also led the Qiskit Advocate Program, supporting a global community of quantum enthusiasts and researchers. 

 

With a background in topological quantum computing, Junye is passionate about making quantum concepts more accessible. He created quantum computer games like QPong, featured in the Coding with Qiskit YouTube series (100k+ views), and developed a quantum arcade machine that toured exhibitions under the EU Quantum Flagship program. 

 

Beyond education and advocacy, Junye has made significant contributions to Qiskit, serving as a maintainer of Qiskit documentation and ranking among the top 50 contributors to the Qiskit codebase. 

 

Dedicated to democratizing quantum computing, Junye continues to shape the field through education, open-source contributions, and global community engagement.
