Jasmine Hasmatali

Jasmine Hasmatali is an ambitious early-career strategist whose work sits at the intersection of AI education, access, and human rights. She came to this space through human rights. Her LLM at the University of Edinburgh, where she researched digital policy and poverty, gave her a framework for understanding technological change not just as a technical phenomenon but as a political and structural one. She has spent the years since her research working to understand the gap between the promise of AI education and its reality for people from underserved communities, and building the partnerships and strategies that can meaningfully close it.

She joined Breakthrough Social Enterprise, a UK-based social enterprise working to make AI literacy a reality for people from underserved communities, in 2024, where she now leads partnerships and growth. Breakthrough exists to rebalance access to opportunity in a digital economy that is accelerating inequality. They deliver practical AI education programmes to people who are consistently forgotten: prison leavers, care leavers, young people who are not in education, employment or training, and others navigating the kind of structural disadvantage that makes access to quality digital education feel remote.
