Jan Reich

M.Sc. Jan Reich received his Master’s degree in Automotive Computer Science from TU Kaiserslautern in 2017. After joining the “Safety Engineering” department at Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE), he worked in various research and industry projects on developing model-based safety engineering and assurance methods for autonomous and cyber-physical systems in automotive, industrial automation and agricultural domains. In his current position as scientific expert for Dynamic Assurances of Connected Autonomous Systems, he orchestrates research at IESE concerning the development and assurance of intelligent runtime safety monitors, which make use of sophisticated environment and self-awareness models according to the MAPE-K paradigm. In addition, he develops situation-aware dynamic risk assessment monitors to balance safety and performance of autonomous systems in his doctoral studies at Technical University Kaiserslautern. Within the German PEGASUS successor project “V&V Methods”, he coordinates the group for developing the holistic safety case structure for highly-automated driving functions.
