Hangyeol Kang

Hangyeol Kang is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, specializing in deep learning, human-robot interaction, and embodied conversational agents. He earned a Master’s degree from the Institut Polytechnique de Paris in France, where he built a strong foundation in artificial intelligence.

His research focuses on advancing humanoid social robotics. As part of his PhD, he is contributing to the development of Nadine, one of the most realistic, socially intelligent humanoid robots, with the goal of enhancing the quality of human life and fostering more agreeable human-robot interactions.

Beyond his academic work, Hangyeol actively participates in global initiatives to showcase advancements in AI and robotics. He exhibited the social robot Nadine at the AI for Good Global Summit in 2023 and 2024, where he contributed to discussions about the future of AI-driven technologies. He also played a key role in scientific projects focused on developing an AI-powered surgical assistant for medical training, collaborating with medical doctors to create a robust medical dataset and developing AI system for the project.

Hangyeol envisions a future where AI-powered embodied agents are seamlessly integrated into human environments, fostering positive societal impact. Through his work, he aims to illuminate pathways for the agreeable and ethical acceptance of AI-powered robots, ensuring they serve as companions, collaborators, and tools for improving quality of life.
