H.E. Mr. Seong deok Yun

Ambassador YUN, Seong deok is the Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva. 

Since June 2024, he has chaired the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization (ILO), and—after serving successively as Second and First Vice-Chair of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Council in 2022—he was elected President of that Council in November 2024.

From 2013 to 2016, he served as Counsellor and Deputy Chief of the Mission of the Republic of Korea to the European Union in Brussels. He was appointed Director-General for Bilateral Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2017, overseeing Korea’s bilateral economic diplomacy.

Between July 2018 and 2021, he served as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco, deepening Korea’s partnership with North Africa and the Arab region.

In June 2021, he became Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, and in February 2022, he was appointed to Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He assumed his present multilateral post in Geneva in December 2022, where he continues to advance Korea’s interests on labour, migration, trade, and other global agendas.

Ambassador YUN earned a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Seoul National University and completed diplomatic and international relations programs at the University of Oxford and the University of London.
