H.E. Mr. Seong deok YUN

Ambassador Seong deok Yun is the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations Office and Other International Organizations in Geneva, since 20 December 2022. 

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Yun had been serving as Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs at the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs since February 2022. He served as Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister from June 2021 to February 2022. He served as the Republic of Korea’s Ambassador to Morocco from July 2018 to June 2021. He was also Director-General for Bilateral Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from February 2017 to July 2018. 

A career diplomat, Mr. Yun joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1989. Among others, he has served as Minister at the Korean Embassy in Belgium and the Korean Mission to the European Union from November 2013 to July 2018, and First Secretary there from December 1998 to January 2002; Deputy Consul-General at the Korean Consulate General in Guangzhou, China from July 2011 to November 2013; Minister-Counsellor at the Korean Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office at Geneva from December 2008 to July 2011; and First Secretary at the Korean Embassy to Lebanon from January 2002 to June 2005. 

 

Mr. Yun was born on 7 March 1967. He has a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from Seoul National University in Seoul, Republic of Korea (1989).
