Guillaume Le Sourd

He currently leads the Secretariat of the Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management, located in the Global Geospatial Information Management Section, Statistics Division, Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations

He worked in the various geospatial offices of the United Nations for over 20 years. Previously, he worked at the Geospatial Information Section at the United Nations, leading the Cartographic Unit (2021-2023). Prior his career included responsibilities on maritime space at the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (Office of Legal Affairs), on peace and security in the peacekeeping operation in Burundi, on environmental assessments at the UN Environment Programme (GRID Geneva) and on health mapping at the World Health Organization.

He studied geography at the University of Lyon, holds a M.A. in Sustainable development from the University of Geneva (2005), and MSc. in GIS from the University of Southampton (2016).
