Gregory Goltsman

Gregory Goltsman obtained his Ph.D. degree from Moscow State Pedagogical University in 1973 and habilitation from Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute in 1985. Currently, he holds the position of professor and chair of the Division of Quantum Optics and Telecommunication at Moscow Institute of Electronics, Mathematics and he is PI in Russian Quantum Center. His past achievements include: the first observation of optical transitions between energy levels of excitons and the discovery of the negatively charged state of shallow donors in monocrystalline semiconductors; the discovery and promotion of the superconducting hot electron bolometric mixer and the superconducting single-photon detector. He has won several prizes, including the IEEE Van Duzer Prize in Applied Superconductivity (2010), and the IEEE Award for Continuing and Significant Contributions in the Field of Applied Superconductivity (2017). In 2005, He founded a start-up company Scontel, which produces ready-to-use superconducting receivers for near and far-infrared wavelengths. In 2015, He founded an innovative company named TIRPhotonics LLC within the Skolkovo Foundation.
