Gonçalo Chaves

Gonçalo Chaves is a computational engineering master’s student at the University of Aveiro, with a keen interest in machine learning, deep learning, and AI-driven decision-making. Blending technical know-how with practical experience, he has a solid background in programming, computational modeling, and applied physics and is eager to apply AI-driven solutions to real-world challenges.

Gonçalo has managed teams and planned events in student organizations while holding leadership positions outside of the classroom. He obtained useful project management and networking experience as a member of the ENEEC 2023 communication team and as a logistical coordinator for the cultural group NRock-AAUav.

Using AWS products like SageMaker, Gonçalo has undergone an internship on Machine Learning models for ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) optimization and has acquired some practical expertise with AI for manufacturing planning. Additionally, he has experience in software development, having been an intern on game development projects using Unity, C#, and GitHub.

Furthermore, throughout his academic path he also attended lectures that taught him about AI models, covering AI fundamentals, practical applications, and data analysis techniques. This allowed him to have some experience in a wide range of AI methodologies, from predictive modeling to deep learning and time series analysis.

His knowledge of AI and data science has grown steadily because of his work on projects involving software development and data-driven problem-solving. He is dedicated to using AI for ethical and sustainable developments and is passionate about innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
