Esther Kimani

Esther Kimani is the founder and CEO of FarmerLifeline Technologies, a Kenyan based company that is revolutionizing agriculture across the Global South with solar-powered, AI-driven devices. She is leveraging artificial intelligence to transform Africa’s agricultural landscape by empowering small-scale farmers to fight food insecurity and climate change at its roots. She holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science from the University of Eldoret and is currently undertaking a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence.
Through Farmer Lifeline’s work, Esther helps farmers build climate resilience by detecting pests and diseases in time, reducing crop losses, and increasing their incomes—ultimately enabling sustainability and prosperity in rural communities. Esther is on a mission to impact 1 million marginalized smallholder farmers by 2030. As a trailblazer in AI for good, Esther has garnered recognition for her transformative efforts, including:

1.Giving a keynote speech at the Africa Food Systems Forum in Senegal during the launch of the 2025 Global Food Policy Report alongside H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, former president of Tanzania
2.Being honored with the UN FAO Achievement Scroll.
3.Awarded the 2024 Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation by the UK’s Royal Academy of Engineering.
4.Invited to give a public lecture on “The role of AI in building Climate Resilient Rural Communities” in Florida during Grace Hopper Celebration September 2023
5.Invited as a keynote speaker at COP28 in Dubai on “Youth engagement in climate change”
6.Invited as a speaker at the Mobile World Congress GSMA Summit in Kigali October 2025 on “Harnessing Innovation and Partnership for 5G Use Case Development”
