Dylan Brown

Dylan Brown is a Senior Engineering Manager at Rising Academies, where he leads the development of AI-enhanced educational tools deployed across six African countries. With over a decade in software development and six years specializing in conversational systems, Dylan focuses on building trustworthy, accessible technology that works in resource constrained environments.

Dylan’s path in inclusive technology began at a South African startup making public transport data accessible across Africa. It was here he built his first chatbot and discovered the power of conversational interfaces to bridge digital divides in underserved communities. After leading a fintech company that built chatbots handling millions in transactions, he returned to impact work, applying conversational AI to education at scale.

At Rising Academies, Dylan oversees Rori, an AI maths tutor demonstrating measurable learning gains among students in Ghana, Rwanda, and beyond, and Tari, a WhatsApp based teacher development platform. Both systems are designed for the realities of limited connectivity and low cost devices. His work addresses the practical challenges of deploying trustworthy solutions for sustainable development, ensuring these tools genuinely serve the communities they’re built for, not just applying the most hyped AI models.
