Dylan Barry

Dylan Barry is the Executive Director of the “von Neumann Commission”, an independent research commission investigating the prospects for quantum computing and other quantum technologies to act as either an accelerator or a complement for machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Dylan is also a Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science & International Affairs at the Harvard Kennedy School, as well as an advisor on Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence at the Aspen Institute. Dylan has recently left The Economist where he spent the last five years writing about emerging trends across physics, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence.

From 2023, Dylan has worked as editorial consultant for Quantonation Ventures, the largest venture capital fund in the world dedicated to quantum technologies, where he writes Quantonation’s white papers on trends in the quantum industry. Dylan’s most recent such white paper was edited by Nobel laureate Alain Aspect.

Dylan has three degrees in physics and economics. Most recently, he graduated with an MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship. He is about to commence a PhD in Strategy at Harvard University.
