Dongning Sun

Dr.Dongning Sun is a researcher, doctoral supervisor, and financial technology expert with a multidisciplinary background spanning mechanics, biomedical engineering, quantitative finance, derivatives, digital finance, and AI-driven financial risk governance.
Dr. Sun received his Master’s degree in Mechanics from Peking University, his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University, and awarded a distinguished postdoctoral fellowship in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. He subsequently held investment and market-making roles in the United States at Swiss Re Capital Management & Advisory, Citigroup Investment Banking, UBS Investment Banking, and Deutsche Bank Investment Banking, and also served as Chief Investment Officer for Derivatives and Quantitative Investment at Ping An Fund Company. He is currently a Senior Researcher and Doctoral Supervisor at Pengcheng Laboratory, and also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Shenzhen Finance Institute of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. His work focuses on quantitative investment, derivatives, artificial intelligence in finance, digital assets, and financial risk governance.
Dr. Sun also holds a number of academic and professional appointments. He is an expert affiliated with the China Financial Policy Research Center at PBC School of Finance, Tsinghua University; a Standing Committee Member of the Digital Finance Branch of the China Computer Federation; Executive Director of the China Quantitative Investment Club; Committee Member of the Financial Technology Branch of the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
With extensive experience across academia, global investment banks, asset management, and frontier financial technology research, Dr. Sun is dedicated to advancing the integration of quantitative finance, artificial intelligence, and governable digital financial systems.
