Conrad M Albrecht

Conrad M Albrecht earned his Ph.D. degree in physics from Heidelberg University, Germany, in 2014. From 2014 to 2021, he was a Research Scientist with the Physical Sciences Department at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown, NY, USA. Since 2021, he has been with the Earth Observation Center at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Germany, as HelmholtzAI Young Investigator Group lead and PI of the Horizon Europe projects “EvoLand” and “Embed2Scale”. His research concerns weakly-supervised learning for remote sensing, https://conrad-m-albrecht.github.io. Conrad actively fosters transatlantic collaboration, including initiatives with Princeton University and Columbia University, where he taught in 2024 and currently supervises students in Earth and Environmental Engineering. In 2023, he was appointed Visiting Associate Professor at Yamagata University, Japan, contributing to remote sensing archaeology. With his colleagues he was awarded the Cozzarelli Prize by the National Academy of Sciences in 2024. Conrad holds 13 patents.
